Greer competed in three Olympic Games, representing the United States in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and Beijing 2008. His best Olympic performance came in Athens, where he finished in fourth place.

Greer's personal best throw is 91.29 meters, which he achieved in 2007. This mark still stands as the American record in the javelin throw. He is a six-time national champion in the event and has won numerous other competitions throughout his career.
